Thanksgiving Dessert

This year for Thanksgiving dessert I made pecan pie as I have in the past. But this year I put a special twist on it and added maple syrup. Thanksgiving is such a special time during the year and making a pie can really add to any celebration.

The finished product!

The ingredients:
  • 1 refrigerated pie crust
  • 1/2 c. light corn syrup
  • 1/4 c. honey
  • 1/4 c. pure maple syrup
  • 1/2 stick of unsalted butter (melted)
  • 3 extra large eggs (beaten)
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2-2 1/2 c. pecans

To begin preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Melt the butter in the microwave or on the stove and let cool. Whisk the eggs together. Then, line a pie plate with the refrigerated pie crust. Next, whisk all of the ingredients together except the pecans. Finally, add the pecans in while stirring. Then pop it in the oven for 40 minutes (if the crust is getting too brown you can always cover it with tinfoil).

This recipe can be developed to taste, you can change the light corn syrup to dark corn syrup, and you can also adjust the pecans to filling ratio. This recipe is one that will make an appearance year after year. This pie will definitely be on my Thanksgiving table.
